Local businesses are winning against the national chains when it comes to personalized attention and the customer experience. A survey recently revealed that a large percentage of local businesses outperformed national chains with over 90% of respondents saying the local companies were better at personalizing service. Almost all of the survey respondents said local businesses were more trustworthy and were better at customer service and quality of service.

National chains did score higher when it comes to more cutting edge solutions and also with more competitive pricing options. Another area that was not as favorable was the lack of responsive design websites that were easy to navigate and view from their mobile devices. For local service providers to stay on top they need to expand their knowledge for emerging technology and apply it to their offerings. While staying competitive in pricing is important, it can be offset to a degree by providing a memorable customer experience. Finally, when a website reaches the redesign mode it needs to be a mobile friendly one utilizing responsive web design.
