IS Supports GVNW to Assist Telcos with Network Monitoring

May 14, 2007 - Innovative Systems will be providing hardware and technical support for GVNW Consulting to offer an important solution for monitoring all voice traffic that is moving through a telco’s SS7 network.

Companies have traditionally relied on their own switch information (namely AMA records) and other network elements such as billing sources. Unfortunately, these sources alone do not provide the level of detail and data needed for revenue assurance. With Innovative Systems Network Monitor & Message Analysis Software, GVNW will be able to offer telcos on a contract basis a service that includes analysis & end user training. The objective of the service is to uncover any problems with network traffic including phantom traffic.

The Network Monitor can be used in conjunction with any TDM or Next Generation switch type to record ISUP traffic on SS7 Links. Information available from this service is beneficial for maintenance, engineering, CABS and Rating Verification and Special Studies. Bob Schoonmaker, CEO of GVNW stated, “teaming up with Innovative Systems provides GVNW the necessary support to assist our clients with identifying phantom traffic and mitigating revenue losses.”

The information captured can be compared to information provided by outside sources such as AMA and EMI records to ensure that records are being provided and billed appropriately. Telcos can also compare information from CABS or end user billing system to the SS7 records to ensure proper billing of calls and minutes. The service can monitor traffic from or to a specific phone number or can utilize a combination of selection criteria to define the report even further. The list of applications are many including, special studies, analysis of wireless activity, review of trunk activity, comparison studies and identification of phantom traffic.
