Summer Rural Channel Stats Report – Baseball and HD Booming

The dog days of low summer TV viewing was not as low this year compared to the 2018 summer, according to the Innovative Systems Quarterly Rural American Channel Stats report.

The data for this report has been tabulated from over sixty thousand Set Top Boxes from 49 locations from Alaska to New York.

Good professional baseball performances in the midwest and southeast anchored a traditionally slow season for TV viewing.   The extremely wet weather in the summer of 2019 was also a likely factor that kept people from their usual outdoor activities. The data is also showing a continued trend towards more viewership of HD content, with many HD channels entering  the top 100 for this quarter of reporting.

  • Regional Sports Channels homer their way into the top 15
  • CBS SD/HD channels combined still dominate
  • HD viewership growing across all channels
  • Paramount Network continues a steady rise in the ratings
