Make the Most of Your Annual Meetings

If you are a cooperative, this is the time of year that many of you are planning annual meetings. You are brainstorming theme ideas and comparing notes with other companies about what has been successful. You are shopping for the next greatest give-away item to support your theme. These are the fun parts of meeting planning. But what about the ‘meat’ of your meeting? What should you be thinking about in terms of promoting services? After all, your meeting provides a captive audience and everyone in attendance is there to see what you have to offer. Take advantage of the time and put your best foot forward. If you are not a cooperative, this same principle applies to your home shows or county fair displays or customer appreciation activities.

These events are a perfect opportunity to set up demo stations for specific products. If you choose to showcase your video product, rent or purchase large TVs and have a separate demo for regular TV service vs. a DVR type service. Encourage people to use the remote control and play with the service on their own while a staff member is there to answer questions and explain benefits of your service.

Select a few of your phone features to showcase and set up demos for them. For example, if you offer a Single Number type service, have a few phones available and use the online configuration to add a customer’s cell phone on the spot. Then using another test phone, call the Single Number subscribed demo phone and let the prospect see how they could quickly be located by providing just one number. You could run similar demonstrations with Notify Plus, Voice Mail to e-mail or screen pop caller ID services for the television.

The main thing to remember is that your company sponsored events are a prime place where customers expect to see your services. Take the opportunity to strut your stuff.
